2. NIFS warns civilians against Nomura’s Jellyfish
Local emergency response office to conduct preventive measures

The province will form and operate an emergency response team to reduce damage from increasing numbers of Nomura’s Jellyfish in the island’s waters.

The emergency response team will operate a fishery inspection boat at to minimize damage to the fishing industry and strengthen monitoring beaches to prevent beachgoers from being stung by jellyfish.

The National Institute of Fisheries Science recently issued a warning for Nomura’s Jellyfish after a detailed study found 1.04 Nomura’s Jellyfish per 100 square meters of water in the South Sea and East China Sea of the Korean Peninsula and Jeju Island.
