1. Typhoon Danas to hit Jeju 3 a.m. July 20
Typhoon to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds

The season’s fifth typhoon Danas, which developed in waters off the Philippines on Tuesday is moving towards Jeju Island.

Typhoon Danas is a relatively small typhoon with a maximum speed of 24 meters per second and central pressure of 990 hPa. It is barreling upwards from east-southeast of Shanghai and is expected to effect the island when it reaches 200 kilometers west-southwest of Seogwipo at 3 a.m. on Saturday.

The storm is bringing very strong gusts and 150 to 300 mm of heavy rainfall to the island. Up to 700 mm of rain is expected to pour down on the mountains.

The National Typhoon Center says the storm may change direction, so it is advising area residents to stay up-to-date with forecasts.

서귀포 서남서쪽
200킬로미터 부근 해상까지 이동하면서
제주에 영향을 주기 시작할 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.

제주지방기상청에 따르면
예상강수량은
토요일 밤까지 150~300mm,
산지 많은 곳에서는 700mm 이상
강한 폭우가 내릴 것으로 내다봤습니다.

하지만 앞으로
이동경로나 위력은 변동될 가능성이 커
