4. Local police to form TF to reduce crimes by foreigners
Foreign offender numbers in Jeju continue to rise

The local police are stepping up their crackdown on violent crimes committed by foreigners.

The Jeju Provincial Police Agency says it will form a task force to conduct intensive patrols and inspections on areas where foreigners are concentrated.

The team will increase the number of body searches it conducts for suspected weapons possession.

Meanwhile, there were a total of 631 crimes committed by foreigners in Jeju last year, a two-fold increase from 300 cases five years ago.

경찰이 외국인 강력 범죄에 대한 단속을 강화합니다.

제주지방경찰청은
외국인 범죄 예방 TF팀을 구성해
외국인 밀집지역 등에 대한
집중 순찰과 검문 검색 등을 강화하는 등
도민 불안 해소를 위한 대책을 마련하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 흉기 소지 여부에 대한 단속을 강화합니다.

한편, 지난해 제주에서 발생한 외국인 범죄는 모두 631건으로
5년 전 3백여 건과 비교해 2배 늘었습니다.
