3. Jeju office of NHRC to open in October
Five employees to address local human rights issues

An office of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea will be newly established in Jeju Island.

The local office will open under the Gwangju office in October with five employees to address local human rights violation and discrimination cases.

The NHRC expects the local office to respond quickly to local human rights issues.

제주도에 인권위원회 제주 출장소가 들어섭니다.

정부는
광주인권사무소 소속으로
10월쯤 제주에 출장소를 신설합니다.

제주출장소에는
인권침해와 차별행위 등에 대한
조사 권고를 전담할 5명이 근무하게 됩니다.

인권위는
제주의 경우 4.3 사건과 강정해군기지 갈등,
예멘 난민 사태 등 민감한 인권 이슈가 제기된 곳인 만큼
출장소 설치로
인권 문제에 신속히 대응할 수 있을 것으로 기대했습니다.
