Ordinance proposed to create social ambience for boycott

Provincial council lawmaker Hong Myung-hwan proposed a bill to restrict local public organizations from making contracts with Japanese war criminal corporations.

The bill prohibits the provincial government, Provincial Office of Education and its affiliates from signing private contracts for goods and services with some 280 japanese companies. It requires local officials to devise a basic plan for restrictions implementation.

The bill also pushes to survey past transactions of public organizations with the Japanese companies and to create an ambience that pressures islanders to refrain from purchasing products from these companies.

'日 전범기업 수의계약 제한' 조례 추진

도내 행정기관에 대해
일본 전범기업과의 수의계약을 제한하는 방안이 추진됩니다.

제주도의회 홍명환 의원은
이 같은 내용을 담은
일본 전범기업과의 수의계약 체결 제한에 관한 조례안을
대표 발의하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

이 조례안은
제주도와 교육청, 산하기관은
전범기업 280여 개와
물품에 대한 수의계약을 체결하지 못하도록 하고
이를 위한 기본계획을 수립하도록 했습니다.

또 전범기업과 거래 현황에 대한 실태조사와 함께
이들 기업의 제품 구매를 제한하는 문화를 조성하는
내용도 담고 있습니다.
