3. License plate numbers to change to 8 digits from September
Province to update plate recognition devices in local parking lots

The license plate system will change from seven to eight-digit-number system from this September.

This is to accommodate the increasing number of car registries.

The province will update license plate recognition devices at public organizations by August to prevent confusion caused by the new system.

The local government will also work with municipal city officials to update plate recognition systems at private parking lots and apartments.

9월부터 자동차번호판 체계 8자리로 변경

오는 9월부터 자동차번호판 체계가 기존 7자리에서 8자리로 변경됩니다.

이번 조치는
자동차 등록대수가 많아지면서
7자리 번호체계로는 한계가 있어 개편하는 것입니다.

이에 따라 제주도는 다음달까지
새로운 자동차 등록번호판 발급에 따른 혼란을 방지하기 위해
공공기관의
관련 시설물에 대한 기능을 개선합니다.

또 아파트와 민간주차장에 대해
행정시와 함께 기능 개선 여부를 점검할 예정입니다.
