4. Jeju-China cooperation promotion forum held July 25
Professor Wang points out cliched tourism product and promotion

A forum promoting economic and tourism cooperation between Jeju and China was held at Maison Glad Jeju Hotel on July 25th. It was hosted by the Jeju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Consulate General of The People’s Republic of China and the Jeju Tourism Organization.

Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Professor Wang Cheon Cheon said in his presentation that it will be hard to recreate the situation before 2016, even if China drops all retaliatory measures against THAAD and fully operate Chinese group tours.

He emphasized that Jeju must develop new tourism products to launch promotional campaigns geared toward an international audience instead of recycling cliched examples of local stone and Haenyeo culture.

중국 단체관광이 전면 개방돼도
2016년 전의 상황을 재현하기는 어려울 것으로 예측했습니다.

다만 관광자원의 발굴과 다양한 상품 개발이 필요하며
제주의 돌문화나 해녀문화의 단순한 소개가 아닌
국제적인 작업을 통해
더 많은 외국인 관광객에게 알려야 한다고 강조했습니다.
