Halibut exports from Jeju could be affected

The Japanese government announced plans to tighten quarantine inspections on Korean fisheries products. The local fishing farms are concerned these measures will impact their halibut exports to Japan.

According to the province, the Japanese government doubled the ratio of inspections subject to quarantine to 40 percent, including Jeju halibut.

Officials expect the customs clearance process to be more strict as well.

The provincial government said it will strengthen pre-inspections and guide local fishing farms to prevent any damage to local fishing farms.

제주산 광어도 검역 물량이 늘어나고
통관절차도 더 까다로워 질 것으로 예상됩니다.

제주도는
수출에 차질이 없도록 사전 검사와 양식장 지도를
강화하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
