3. Local SME rental car firms continue voluntary fleet reductions
7,000 vehicles must be removed from Jeju's roads to meet quota

While five large rental companies and the province are locked in a legal battle over the rental car quota system, local small and medium sized rental car agencies are continuing to voluntarily reduce the number of their cars.

According to the province, 81 local rental car agencies have voluntarily removed more than 2,830 vehicles from Jeju's roads.

Even after five large rental car companies filed a lawsuit in May against the provincial government, four local companies have joined the rental car quota system by reducing some 340 rental cars.

Meanwhile, the province set the quota for local rental cars at 25,000, requiring rental car agencies to reduce a total of 7,000 units.

렌터카 총량제를 놓고
대기업 업체와 제주도 간 법적다툼이 이어지고 있는 가운데
도내 렌터가 업체들의
자율적 감차는 계속되고 있습니다.

제주도에 따르면
렌터카 총량제에 따른 자율 감차 신청을 받은 결과
81개 업체에서 2천830여 대를 감차했습니다.

특히 지난 5월 5개 대기업 업체가 소송을 제기한 이후에도
도내 4개 업체가 렌터카 340여 대를 감차하는 등
자율적인 감차가 이어지고 있습니다.

한편 제주도는 도내 렌터카 적정대수를
2만 5천대로 산정하고
이를 초과한 7천여 대를 줄이기로 했습니다.
