Port construction to cost up to 2.8 trillion won

Seoul will announce the basic plan for the construction project of a new port in the island on August 1st.

The provincial government said that the basic plans for the local new port will be included in Seoul’s announcement on plans for all new ports in the nation.

A total of 2.8 trillion won will be spent through 2040 to the project that includes four berths for 220,000-ton international ships, and nine berths for domestic ferries. The project will see the construction of 5.4-kilometer breakwaters to minimize damage from high waves and rough seas.

제주신항만 개발계획을 포함한 신항만 건설 기본계획을
다음달 1일자로 고시한다는 방침을 세운 것으로 알려지고 있습니다.

제주신항만 개발사업은
오는 2040년까지 사업비 2조 8천억원을 투입해
22만톤급 크루즈 4선석과 여객부두 9선석,
방파제 5.4km를 구축하는 사업으로
제주도는 지난 2016년 12월부터 추진해 왔습니다.
