It has been a year since the province have operated Jeju Happy Taxi Tour.

However, the this taxi service is little known to tourists.

The province has introduced the Jeju Happy Taxi Tour that can be rented by the hour.

Fares are fixed, for example, 50,000 won for three hours and 80,000 won for five hours. Users don't have to worry about being overcharged.

The province designated about 340 taxis as part of the Jeju Happy Taxi Tour service one year ago.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluated that the policy is outstanding.

However, the actual number of tourists using the service is very low.

The number of times the service was used was just 200 over the last 12 months in total. That means less than one taxi per day was hired by the Jeju Happy Taxi Tour reservation system.

Due to the lack of effort to promote the policy, it has been known only to a few tourists.

Reservations are required three days prior to use, which limits access to the service.

Some point out the taxi service cannot survive unless it adds special features as the demand for rental cars is high.

The province has announced that it will use 50 million won and come up with plans to promote the taxi service.
