Commissioner General orders fact-finding investigation

The National Police Agency Commissioner General Min Gap-ryong ordered investigations on the video release of Koh Yu-jeong’s arrest scene.

Koh is currently under charges of killing her ex-husband and dismembering and disposing his body to get rid of evidence.

At a press conference on Monday, the commissioner general said he will look into how the video was leaked and whether disclosure of its contents was appropriate. He added that if he finds any irregularities, he would take action.

The video showing Koh Yu-jeong being arrested at an apartment parking lot in Cheongju in June was released. Jeju Dongbu Police Station former chief Park Ki-nam admitted to providing the video to a few media outlets, but Park said he does not think that he violated any rules regarding press release.

Meanwhile, Min said the investigation regarding the poor initial investigation of Koh's case will be completed within this week.

"고유정 체포영상 유출 진상파악" 지시

전 남편을 살해하고 시신을 유기한 혐의로 구속기소된
고유정의 체포영상 유출과 관련해
민갑룡 경찰청장이 진상파악을 지시했습니다.

민갑룡 경찰청장은 29일 정례 기자간담회에서
영상 유출이 적절했는지,
적정한 수준에서 공개된 것인지,
절차상 부실한 면은 없었는지 여부 등에 대해 진상파악을 지시했고
진상파악이 되는 대로
부적절한 면이 있다면 조치를 취하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

앞서 지난달 충북 청주시 한 아파트 지하주차장에서
고유정이 긴급체포되는 영상이 공개됐는데,
이에 대해 박기남 전 제주동부경찰서장은
특정 언론에만
영상을 제공한 사실은 인정하면서도
당시 공보규칙을 어겼다고 판단하진 않는다고 밝혔습니다.

한편 고유정 사건 초동수사 부실 논란과 관련해
민갑룡 청장은 이번 주 안으로
진상조사가 마무리될 것이라고 전했습니다.
