JRI finds local heat stroke patients increased 10 times from 2011

The number of heat stroke patients in Jeju keeps rising.
The Jeju Research Institute said that the number of heat stroke patients in Jeju has increased by 10 folds from 10 people in 2011 to 96 last year.

Researchers found that one fourth of the heat stroke patients were people working in agricultural and fisheries industry. Many of heat exhaustion patients got a heat stroke while working outdoors.

The institute stressed the need for administrative measures to address prolonged heat waves and the increasing number of heatstroke patients.

급속도로 증가하고 있어 주의가 요구됩니다.

제주연구원에 따르면
지난해 온열질환자수는 96명으로
지난 2011년 10명 보다
10배 가까이 증가했습니다.

특히 환자의 25%가
농림 어업종사자였고,
야외 작업 도중 열탈진 환자가 가장 많았습니다.

제주연구원은
해마다 폭염과 열대야일수가 증가하면서
온열질환 피해가 커지고 있다며
행정이
체계적인 폭염 대응책을 마련해야 한다고 조언했습니다.
