3. Islanders experiences more hot days and tropical nights
0.29℃ increase every year for past 58 years.

The local temperatures have been on a steady rise over the past 50 years due to global warming.

According to a report on climate change by the Jeju branch of Korea Meteorological Administration, the average annual temperature in Jeju Island continuously rose by an average of 0.29 degrees celsius every decade for over the past 58 years from 1961 through 2018.

The average temperature rise of the annual lowest temperature was twice the increase in highest temperatures. This led to a decrease in the number of extremely cold and frosty days.

Similarly, the frequency of extremely hot days and tropical nights have increased by 1.5 and 5.2 days per decade, respectively in Jeju. This is the highest increase in the nation.

기후변화 특성 분석집에 따르면,
1961년부터 지난해까지 58년 동안
제주도의 연평균 기온은
10년마다 0.29도씩 올랐습니다.

연평균 최고기온 상승폭보다
최저기온 상승폭이 약 2배 높았으며
이로 인해 서리나 결빙 일수 같은
저온 극한현상 일수는 감소 추세를 보였습니다.

반면 고온 극한현상일수는 늘었는데
특히 폭염일수는 10년당 1.5일,
열대야일수는 5.2일로
전국에서도 높은 증가세를 보였습니다.
