3. Udo desalination facility to transform to culture & art space
Officials to apply for Seoul’s project

An abandoned desalination facility in Udo Island will be transformed into a cultural and artistic space.

The province said that the desalination facility, which has been closed since 2011, was selected as a candidate site to study for Seoul’s project to transform neglected spaces into cultural and artistic spaces. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will study the site.

Local officials will apply for the project next year after surveying the Udo desalination facility and collecting opinions from the residents.

제주특별자치도는
지난 2011년 부터 폐쇄된 우도 담수화시설이
문화체육관광부가 추진하는
유휴공간 문화재생 기본계획 수립
연구 대상지로 선정됐다고 밝혔습니다.

이에 따라
대상지 현지 조사와
주민 의견 수렴을 거쳐
활용계획을 수립한 뒤
내년도 국비 공모사업에
응모할 예정입니다.
