3. Kim Dae-jung Foundation urges public survey on 2nd airport
Chairman says islanders voices should be reflected

The Kim Dae-jung Foundation held a press conference in front of the provincial council last Friday and urged the provincial government to conduct a public opinion poll on the construction project of the island’s new airport.

Foundation Chairman Park Hee-soo stated that the province must persuade Seongsan-eup residents and gain their consent on the construction project of the island’s second airport regardless of the importance of the state project. He said that islanders should be allowed to determine the fate of the project for themselves

Park added that the provincial council should also collect local opinions if necessary.

아무리 중요한 국책사업이라도
피해 주민을 설득하고 동의를 구하는 과정은 필수라며
제2공항은 공론조사를 통해
도민 스스로 결정할 수 있도록 해야 한다고 주장했습니다.

아울러 제주도 뿐 아니라
필요하다면 제주도의회 역시
공론조사 실시 주체로 도민 의견을
수렴해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
