4. Vibrio bacteria found at 8 local beaches
Health officials warn that infected seafood can lead to sepsis

The Jeju Institute for Health and Environment detected pathogenic Vibrio bacteria in eight local beaches.

The bacteria was detected in eight beaches, including Iho, Hado, Pyeongdae and Hwasun Beach.

Consumption of seafood infected by Vibrio bacteria can cause illnesses such as sepsis and cholera.

Over the past five years, there were five cases of sepsis patients found in Jeju Island.

제주지역 해수욕장에서 병원성 비브리오균이 검출됐습니다.

제주도보건환경연구원이
지난 달까지 조사한 결과
이호와 하도, 평대, 화순해수욕장 등 8 곳에서
병원성 비브리오균이 잇따라 검출됐습니다.

비브리오균은 수산물을 섭취할 경우
감염될 수 있으며 패혈증과 콜레라를
유발하는 것으로 알려졌습니다.

최근 5년 동안 제주에서는
비브리오 균에 감염돼
패혈증 환자 5명이 발생했습니다.
