Retiring women seadivers to receive \300K for 36 months

The Jeju Municipal Office said 109 haenyeo women divers had applied for a monthly retirement allowance through August 9th.

This is 27 percent of 397 divers who are eligible to apply for the monthly allowance.

An allowance of 300,000 won will be given to every haenyeo woman diver aged 80 or more every month for three years after retirement. The retirement monthly allowance scheme was introduced to promote retirement and prevent elderly haenyeo from sudden deaths and accidents.

The municipal office will check eligibility of applicants to make sure that there are no illegal beneficiaries.

지난 9일까지 고령 해녀 은퇴 수당 신청 접수를 마감한 결과
109명이 신청했다고 밝혔습니다.

이는 대상자 397명의 27% 수준입니다.

제주시는 부정수급자가 발생하지 않도록
이달 말까지 어촌계를 통해 지원 자격 여부를 확인할 계획입니다.

고령 해녀 은퇴 수당은
만 80살 이상 현직 해녀들의 사고 예방을 위해
은퇴를 유도하는 사업으로
은퇴 시 3년 동안 매달 30만원이 지급됩니다.
