5. 2019 outdoor-grown ‘unshu’ citrus production hits 469,000 tons
Production volume remains similar throughout 2018 and 2019

This year's production volume of outdoor-grown ‘unshu’ mandarin oranges is expect to be similar to that of 2018.

According to a study by the Korea Rural Economic Institute, this year’s production volume of outdoor-grown ‘unshu’ mandarin oranges is expected to reach 468,900 tons this year. This is an increase of approximately 1,000 tons compared to last year.

By region, the number of fruits in Seogwipo City is expected to rise by 10 percent from last year, whereas that of Jeju City is to drop by 13 percent.

The institute advised local mandarin orange farms to conduct fruit thinning as some fruits have been wounded by recent typhoons and few fruits fell due to this year’s relatively low night time temperatures.

서귀포지역 착과수가 지난해보다 10% 증가한 반면,
제주시는 13% 감소할 것으로 예측됐습니다.

농촌경제연구원은
최근 태풍 영향으로 상처과가 일부 발생한 데다,
야간 기온 하락으로 2차 생리낙과도 적어
열매솎기가 필요하다고 제언했습니다.
