1. JTA expresses concern for local tourism sector
Japan’s economic retaliation to affect local economy

The Jeju Tourism Association asked the province and airlines to help the local tourism industry cope with expected damages from Japan’s economic retaliation and reduction of Japanese tourists.

JTA held a press conference at the Jeju Welcome Center on Monday and asked airlines to continue operating direct flights between Jeju and Japan.

It also said that the province should continue promotions to attract domestic and foreign tourists and support businesses that are expected to suffer from damages.

However, JTA announced its demands without providing any specifics on its preventive measures against potential damages from Japan's economic retaliation.

제주도관광협회는 19일 웰컴센터에서 기자회견을 열고
항공사는 일본 경제보복을 빌미로
제주와의 직항노선에 대해 운휴 또는
감축 운항을 자제해야 한다고 주장했습니다.

또 제주도에 대해서는
피해가 예상되는 관광업종에 대해 지원과 함께
내.외국인 관광객 유치를 위한
마케팅에 나서야 한다고 강조했습니다.

한편 관광협회는
관광업계 차원에서 일본 경제보복에 대응한
구체적인 자구노력은 제시하지 않은 채
요구사항만 발표하는 데 그쳤습니다.
