Local health center cautions against uncooked seafood

This year’s first case of Vibrio Sepsis in Jeju Island has been reported.

The Jeju Health Center says a man in his 40s recently visited a hospital complaining of fever and abdominal pain and tested positive for Vibrio Sepsis.

This is the first Vibrio septicemia patient in Jeju and the eighth case in the country this year.

To prevent infection, health officials are recommending the public to properly cook seafood and take extra care as Vibrio Sepsis patients that has chronic liver disease or diabetes patients show a very high death rate.

올해 제주에서 첫 비브리오패혈증 환자가 발생해 주의가 요구됩니다.

제주보건소는
제주시에 거주하는 40대 남성이
최근 발열과
복통 등의 증상을 호소해 병원을 방문했고
이 환자를 대상으로
비브리오패혈증에 대한 검사결과 양성 판정을 내렸다고 밝혔습니다.

제주에서는 올해 첫 비브리오패혈증 환자이며
전국에서는 8번째입니다.

제주보건소는
비브리오패혈증을 예방하기 위해
어패류를 충분히 익혀 먹고
만성 간 질환자나 당뇨병의 고위험군은
치사율이 높은 만큼 특히 주의할 것을 당부하고 있습니다.
