Islanders to account for 80% of employees

Jeju Dream Tower will open next April.

The 38-storey building will become the tallest structure in the island.

The tower developer Lotte Tour Development held a press conference on Thursday to announce its operational plans.

The company said the construction is expected to finish by the end of this year. The tower will start operations from next April after a preparation period to gain approval for use.

More than 3,000 people will be employed from November to work at the hotel, casino and shopping mall within the tower. 80 percent of its employees will be alloted to Jeju residents.

The company said it will look into the local community’s opinion regarding the management and operation of a casino in the tower.

내년 4월 문을 열고 본격 운영에 들어갑니다.

드림타워 사업자인 주식회사 롯데관광개발은
29일 출입기자들과의
간담회를 갖고 이 같은 운영계획을 밝혔습니다.

롯데관광개발은 올 연말까지 건축을 마무리하고
사용승인 등 준비 기간을 거쳐
내년 4월부터 운영이 가능할 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.

또 오는 11월부터 단계적으로
호텔과 카지노 쇼핑몰 등 3천백여 명을 채용할 예정이며
채용 인원의 80%를 제주도민으로 고용할 방침입니다.

한편 관심을 모으고 있는 카지노 운영과 관련해선
지역 사회의 여론을 지켜보겠다는 입장입니다.
