Over time, the pond has fallen into ruin and become polluted.
Green algae blooms and flotsam is scattered about the surface.
A bad odor eminates from the pond.

[slug] Ponds not managed properly
As water supply facilities became established, ponds used as a drinking water source fell into disuse. They have since been neglected and haven't been managed properly.

The pond had been loved for its lotus flowers.

However, the water quality has deteriorated. Aquatic plants and insects are leaving the pond.
A part of the pond was altered for road construction.
