1. Province to impose fines on 2 bus companies for misappropriation
Part-time executives paid \ 293M

The province has decided to collect wages paid to part-time executives at two local semi-publicly operated bus companies.

The province recently conducted an inspection on the bus companies and found that two companies had paid the CEOs’ mothers in their 80s and 90s a total of 293 million won in labor costs.

The provincial government decided to confiscate the amount and impose fines of 1.8 million won on the companies.

Officials said that they will cut financial support for the two bus companies if they won’t collect the amount.

Some people point out a lack of police investigation and small fines on the illegal use of subsidies.

비상근 임원 인건비 2억 9천 3백만 원 전액 회수하고
과태료로 180만 원을 부과할 방침입니다.

제주도는
해당 업체가 회수 조치에 응하지 않으면
버스 재정지원금을 삭감하겠다는 입장입니다.

하지만
보조금 부당 사용에 대해
경찰 수사가 이뤄지지 않고
과태료도 소액이여서 논란이 일고 있습니다.
