43 people die from traffic accidents at night

Recent analysis shows more people have died from traffic accidents at night than during the day.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency, an annual average of 80.7 people have died on the road over the past three years.

42.7 of them have died during the night. It is greater than the 38 deaths reported during the day time.

The number of pedestrian deaths was 27 at night. This is more than double the number of pedestrians killed during the day, that is, 11 people.

The police said the low number of street lights installed per kilometer of roads in Jeju is the main cause of traffic accidents during night time. The number of street lamps per kilometer of roads in Jeju is half of the national average. They have decided to push forward a pilot project to improve lighting in Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City.

교통사고로 이어지는 것으로 보고
서귀포시 성산읍에
조명 개선사업을 시범 추진하기로 했습니다.
