1. MoE asks Land Ministry to augment 2nd airport survey
Officials request ecological scrutiny of planned construction site

The Ministry of Environment asked the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to complement its environmental impact assessment on the island’s 2nd airport.

Its requests include further scrutiny for caves and protected species at the planned construction site and a plan to manage aircraft noise and reduce the possibility of bird strikes.

Ministry officials also asked for a plan to resolve residents’ conflicts on the second airport through a consensus among islanders.
