Retail prices of local pork are on the rise.
The average price of local pork hit 5,671 won per kilogram as of September 23, up 719 won from a week earlier. That's a 14.5 percent increase.

Since the nation's first case of African swine fever case was confirmed, the transportation of pork products from the mainland has been banned.
The price of fresh vegetables is also skyrocketing.
Last month, Jeju's fresh food price index rose 18.5 percent.
Lettuce and pumpkin prices shot up more than 70 percent.
Cucumbers rose 63.1 percent, spinach 54.2 percent, and green onions 51.2 percent.

After an extended period of rain and typhoons, this season’s harvest is showing signs of trouble.
Skyrocketing grocery prices are a shock to shoppers around the island.
