Police to install more speed traps and strengthen crackdown

The number of speeding cars doesn’t decrease although more speed traps has been installed.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency, an average of 235 speeding vehicles were caught daily, with 56,000 speeding tickets issued so far this year.

According to government inspection data, three out of 40 vehicles driving the fastest at 60km/h speed limit areas were found in Jeju.

Officers plan to install new speed traps at 27 locations in the province and start operating unmarked police cars on main roads next month.

제주도내에 과속단속 장비가 계속 추가되고 있지만
과속 운전은 좀처럼 근절되지 않고 있습니다.

제주지방경찰청에 따르면,
도내 과속 적발 차량은
올 들어 지금까지
5만 6천여 건으로
하루 평균 235건이 적발되고 있습니다.

국정감사 자료에서도
제한속도 60km 구간에서 가장 빠른 속도로 주행한
40개 차량을 순위로 매긴 결과
제주에서 3대가 포함됐습니다.

이에따라 경찰은
도내 27곳에 과속단속 장비를 신규로 설치하는 한편
다음달부터 주요 도로에서
암행순찰차를 운영할 계획입니다.
