4. 5th Jeju Batdam Festival starts Sep. 28
Batdam paths hiking to highlight the event

The 5th Jeju Batdam Festival will be held for two days on September 28th and 29th at the Jeju Batdam Park in Woljeong-ri, Gujwa-eup.

Batdam is the island’s traditional stone walls registered as one of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems.

The two-day event is sponsored by the provincial government and the Jeju branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation and organized by KCTV Jeju. Participants can enjoy various local traditional and cultural activities such as building traditional stone walls and rolling large stones.

The festival’s highlight event is the hike along two stone wall paths. Partipants will be given a traditional Jeju lunchbox, called a (동고량) “donggoryang” filled with local traditional sweets and snacks. A guide will accompany hikers and explain the history and characteristics of the island’s tradition.

The opening ceremony of the festival will be held on Saturday from 4 p.m., featuring concerts of children’s songs, classical singing and trot music.

제5회 제주밭담축제 28~29일 개최

세계농업유산 제주 밭담을 테마로 한
제5회 제주밭담축제가 오는 28일과 29일 이틀 동안
구좌읍 월정리 밭담테마공원에서 개최됩니다.

제주도와 제주도농어업유산위원회가 주최하는
이번 축제에는 밭담 쌓기와 굽돌 굴리기,
어린이 밭담학교 등 다채로운 체험프로그램이
마련됩니다.

특히 밭담 원형이 잘 보존된
월정리 진빌레 밭담길 2개 코스에서 진행되는 밭담길 걷기는
밭담 전문해설사가 동행하며
제주 전통도시락인 동고량도 제공됩니다.

28일 오후 4시 밭담테마공원 특설무대에서 마련되는 개막식에는
동요와 성악, 트로트 등 4가지 테마로 구성된
밭담 4색 콘서트도 펼쳐집니다.
