The province is closing the local cattle market to prevent entry of the African Swine Fever virus into the island.

This is to prevent any possibility of contamination entering the island with livestock owners from the mainland.

Thus two cattle markets in Jeju: one in Geumak-ri, Hallim-eup, and one in Sumang-ri, Namwon-eup will be closed.

Meanwhile, this shutdown is expected to affect cattle prices in Jeju.
