Substandard fruits to be used for processed food

The provincial government will purchase substandard extremely early maturing mandarin oranges from local farmers. This is for substandard fruits not to shake the market price of outdoor-grown mandarin oranges.

The purchase price has been set at 180 won per kilogram. The payment will be paid after farmers apply for it to the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation and officials confirm the substandard fruits.

The province will purchase 1.8 billion won worth of substandard fruits in October and use them to produce processed food products.

Local officials expects this decision to also make a stable supply of mandarin orange concentrate.
