3. Relics of the Southern Song Dynasty found in Jeju waters
Active maritime trade in East Asia proved

Relics of the Chinese Southern Song Dynasty were found in local waters at Sinchang-ri, Hankyung-myeon, Jeju City.

The National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage conducted a survey of Shinchang-ri waters from this April to June with the Jeju National Museumsaid. They have found two stamps and a stamp case from the Southern Song Dynasty for the first time in Korea during its cooperative.

They also discovered more than 400 pieces of pottery believed to belong to the same period.

The National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage explained that the relics are representative evidence of the active maritime trade among China, Korea and Japan.

중국 남송시대의 유물이 발굴됐습니다.

문화재청 국립해양문화재연구소는
올해 4월부터 6월까지 국립제주박물관과 공동으로
신창리 인근해역을 조사해
국내 최초로 중국 남송시대 인장 두개와 인장함을 발견했다고 밝혔습니다.

또 같은 시대의 것으로 추정되는
도자기 조각 400여 점도 집중적으로 발견됐습니다.

국립해양문화재연구소는
이번 유물들이 당시 중국과 한국, 일본의 해상 교역이 활발하게
이루어졌음을 보여주는 대표적인 증거라고 설명했습니다.
