Headquarters will seek to create consensus with islanders

The Air Force has reaffirmed its need to create a search and rescue unit.

The Ministry of National Defense Air Force headquarters said in an official letter to an anti-second airport group that the creation of a search-and-rescue unit is necessary to protect national security and national interests.

However, it stated that the plan is not confirmed yet and that officials will spend 150 million won to evaluate the possible location and size of the Air Force base.

The letter also added that the Air Force will seek to create a consensus among islanders if Seoul decides to establish a military base in Jeju.

다만 부대 창설지역은
현재까지 구체적으로 결정된 사항이 없다며
선행연구비 1억 5천만 원을 들여
창설지역과 규모 등에 대한
가능성을 검토하겠다고 설명했습니다.

특히 부대를 제주도에 창설할 경우
도민들과 공감대 형성을 통해 추진하겠다고 덧붙였습니다.
