1. Hard ticks possibly carrying SFTS found on oreums and parks
Precautionary measures to be announced

The appearance of hard ticks has been confirmed on oreums, parks, and walking paths of Jeju Island. Extreme precautionary measures are required, as the ticks are a carrier of SFTS, or Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome.

The Seogwipo City Western Health Center surveyed 11 locations, including mountainous oreum areas and national parks. They collected a total of 135 ticks and submitted them to the Health and Environment Institute for testing.

The health center will focus on disinfecting the Olle Trail, oreum areas and the walking trails of national parks. They also plan to distribute notices on how to take preventive measures.

So far this year, a total of nine people have contracted SFTS from tick bites in Jeju.

한편 올해 현재까지
제주에서 모두 9명이
진드기에 물려 SFTS에 감염됐습니다.
