Number of new contracts drops by 29%

The local construction industry is struggling.

According to the Jeju branch of the Construction Association of Korea, 289 local contractors reported 400 new contracts with a value of 346 billion won in this year. This is 29 percent less than that of the same period last year.

The fall in the number new contracts in the public sector was reduced to 12 percent due to the city development project in Hwabuk-dong. However, demand for construction projects in the private sector showed a huge drop of 51 percent.

도내 289개 종합건설회사가 올해 신규도급한 공사는
400여건에 3천460억 원 수준입니다.

이는 지난해 같은 기간과 비교해 29% 감소한 규모입니다.

공공부문은 화북상업지역 도시개발사업 등으로
감소폭이 12%로 다소 축소됐지만
민간부문은 51%나 줄어든 것으로 나타났습니다.
