4. Jeju City to spend ￦130M on coastal cleanup by year's end
4,500 tons of garbage already removed from coastal waters in 2019

The Jeju Municipal Office will clear waste that have been piling up in the waters of the coastal fishing grounds.

Officials will select one area each from the eastern and western part of the island and spend 130 million won to collect and dispose of marine waste from this month to December.

Priority candidates for the project will be fishing villages that are experiencing increased inflow of pollutants or areas that regularly filed complaints about marine waste.

The municipal office has collected 4,500 tons of marine waste so far this year.

제주시가
연안어장 수중에 쌓여있는 해양쓰레기 처리에 나섭니다.

이를 위해 사업비 1억 3천만원을 투입해
다음달부터 12월까지
동부와 서부 각 1곳을 선정해
수중 해양쓰레기를 수거.처리할 계획입니다.

사업 대상지는
오염물질 유입이 심화되는 마을어장이나
평소 해양쓰레기 민원이 제기됐던 곳을 우선 선정할 방침입니다.

제주시는 올들어 지금까지
해양폐기물 4천500여 톤을 수거 처리했습니다.
