2. Developer pushes for changing Safari World
Park design reviewed by committee today

The developer of the ‘Safari World’ in Dongbok-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City has pushed for changing Safari World to a nature-themed park for families. Thus, changes in the design of the park has been reviewed at the urban planning committee meeting today.

According to the provincial government, the developer had originally planned to create a safari world that showcases more than 600 animals, including large predators and a multi-storey commercial building.

However, due to rising concerns for ecological disturbances and environmental damage, the developer decided to change its plan to reduce the area of tourist and recreation facilities and increase conservation areas.

사업자측은 당초 맹수를 포함한
600여 마리의 동물을 사육하는
사파리와 복합상가를 개발할 예정이었지만,

생태계 교란과 환경훼손 우려가 제기되자
사업계획을 변경해
관광휴양시설 면적을 줄이는 대신
원형보전지역을 늘렸습니다.

제주도는
25일 도시계획위원회를 열어
제주 자연체험파크 관광휴양개발진흥지구 지정안과
제원아파트 재건축 정비구역 지정안을 재심의할 예정입니다.
