3. Restaurants to add ‘half portions of rice’ on the menu
Officials to evaluate new system’s effect on food waste reduction

Some restaurants near Jeju City Hall are adding ‘half a bowl of rice’ on their menus, starting next month.

This is part of Jeju City’s attempts to reduce food waste. Thus, the municipal office will provide 30 restaurants with half-sized rice bowls and materials to advertise the campaign.

Participating restaurants will receive garbage bags, cuts in water utility fees and funds for facility improvement.

Municipal officials will decide whether to expand implementation of the new system after analyzing its effects on food waste reduction.

다음달부터 시청사 주변 음식점을 대상으로
'밥 반공기' 주문제를 시범 운영합니다.

이에따라
시범 운영에 동참하기로 한
시청사 주변 30개 음식점에
반 공기 그릇을 지원하고
홍보물을 배포하기로 했습니다.

시범 운영 업소에는
상수도 사용료 감면과 종량제 봉투,
시설개선자금을 우선 지원할 방침입니다.

제주시는 시범 운영을 통해
음식물 쓰레기 감량 효과를 분석한 뒤
확대 여부를 결정하기로 했습니다.
