1. Committee passes motion to renegotiate EIA of Iho recreation area
‘Developer must devise plans to co-prosper with local residents’

The provincial council’s City Planning Committee passed the motion to renegotiate the environmental impact assessment of the Iho recreation area submitted by the province on Tuesday.

The motion was previously put on hold at the 376th preliminary session last month.

The committee suggested the condominium and hotel floors to be lowered by one floor, saying that more than 1,000 rooms could cause sewage and traffic problems.

It also ordered the developer to sign an agreement with the province to prevent privatization of iho beach and to devise measures to co-prosper with the local community.

29일 제주도지사가 제출한
이호유원지 환경영향평가 재협의 동의안을
원안 가결했습니다.

위원회는
객실수가 1천실이 넘어 하수와 교통난까지
우려될 수 있다며 호텔과 콘도 층수를
1개층 낮출 것을 부대조건으로 제시했습니다.

경관 사유화 논란이 제기되는 만큼
사업자는 제주도와 경관협정을 체결하고
지역 주민 상생대책도 마련하라고
주문했습니다.
