The province is compensating local senior residents for turning in their driver's’ licenses.

Local officials announced that a total of 460 people aged 65 or older have handed in their driver's licenses since this August.

All participants are paid 100,000 won a year to cover transportation costs

Local officials plan to provide subsidies until the policy’s budget for this year is exhausted.

운전면허증 자진반납제도가 비교적 호응을 얻고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면
지난 8월부터
65살 이상 어르신을 대상으로
운전면허증 반납제도를 운영한 결과 지금까지 460여명이 참여했습니다.

이들 어르신에 대해서는
한차례에 한해 10만원의 교통비가 지급되고 있습니다.

제주도는
교통비의 경우
올해 관련 예산이 소진될때까지만 지원한다는 계획입니다.
