Local prosecutors seek to amend charges against offender

Koh Yu-jeong, a 36-year-old woman currently on trial for the murder of her ex-husband, has been indicted by the local prosecutors office on charges of killing her step-son.

The Jeju District Prosecutors' Office revealed that it indicted Koh on charges of murdering her step-son on Thursday and is seeking to add another murder charge to Koh’s current trial.

According to the local prosecutor’s office, Koh Yu-jeong allegedly suffocated her 5-year-old step son by pressing down on him for more than 10 minutes while he was asleep in his bed. Officials speculate the crime to have taken place between 4 to 5 a.m. on March 2nd at an apartment in Cheongju City.

It also said that Koh refused to testify or make any statements on the death of her stepson during investigation.

The local district court will decide whether to add another murder charge to Koh’s current trial on November 18th.

추가 기소됐습니다.

제주지방검찰청은
7일 고유정을 의붓아들 살인 혐의로 기소하고
재판 중인 전 남편 살인사건과 병합 신청했다고 밝혔습니다.

검찰에 따르면 고유정은
지난 3월 2일 새벽 4시에서 5시 사이 청주 자택에서
침대에서 자고 있던 5살난 의붓아들을
10분 이상 눌러 숨지게 한 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

이에대해 고 씨는 검찰 조사에서
진술거부권을 행사하며 일체의 진술을 거부한 것으로
알려졌습니다.

한편 전 남편 살인사건과의 병합 여부는
오는 18일 고유정의 7차 공판에서 결정될 전망입니다.
