Jeju hairtail fishermen can fish in Chinese waters for 10 months

South Korea and China reached an agreement on their annual fisheries quota in each other’s exclusive waters for next year. Thus, Jeju’s fishermen will be allowed to fish for hair tail in the Chinese waters for an extended period of 10 months.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced that it concluded negotiations on the 19th Korea and China agreement for next year.

The Ministry said the fishing period for Korean fishing boats in the Chinese waters has been extended by 15 days, allowing them to operate for a total of 10 months.

The number of Chinese fishing boats allowed to operate near the Jeju waters has also been reduced to 34 from the current 36 to improve the fishing conditions for local fishermen.

이번 협상에서
제주 갈치 연승 어업인들의 요구가 반영돼
중국 수역에서
우리 낚시 어선들의 조업기간이
보름 늘어나
10개월 동안 조업할 수 있게 됩니다.

이와함께
제주도 부근에서 조업할 수 있는
중국 저인망 어선 수를 현행 36척에서 2척 줄여
우리 어업인의 조업 여건을 개선했다고 해양수산부는 설명했습니다.
