4. This year’s yellowtail market price drops by half
Fish catch remains similar to average year

Local fishermen are struggling to raise the market price of locally caught yellowtail.

According to province, fishermen have formed a fishing ground to catch yellowtail in the Moseulpo Area and is currently operating more than 30 fishing boats daily.

Fishermen are catching a daily average of 3,000 middle-sized yellowtail at around 3 kgs, which is similar to that of an average year.

However, the market price for yellowtail has been nearly cut in half to 8,000 won per fish compared to last year.

The province will continuously encourage yellowtail consumption and will hold a yellowtail festival in Moseulpo port from November 21st to 24th.

모슬포 해역 방어 어장 형성…가격은 '반토막'

서귀포 모슬포 해역에 방어 어장이 형성됐지만
가격은 고전을 면치 못하고 있습니다.

제주도에 따르면
최근 모슬포 해역에 방어어장이 형성돼
하루 30여척의 어선이 조업에 나서고 있습니다.

하루 평균 어획량은
3kg급 중방어 3천여 마리로 평년과 비슷한 수준입니다.

하지만 가격이 마리당 8천원 가량으로
지난해보다
절반 가량 낮게 거래되고 있습니다.

제주도는
방어 소비촉진 행사를 추진하는 한편
오는 21일부터 24일까지
모슬포항 일원에서 방어축제를 개최할 예정입니다.
