4. Jeju City starts food waste disposal system in 5 rural areas
Food waste only recycling bins installed at clean houses

Jeju City has implemented a food waste disposal system in five eup and myeon administrative districts from yesterday.

The Jeju City officials reached an agreement with Bonggae-dong residents last Friday. Thus, collected food waste from rural areas will be processed at a food waste disposal facility at the landfill site in Bonggae-dong.

The Jeju Municipal Office invested 2.7 billion won to install food waste only recycling bins at clean houses located in 5 eup and myeon administrative districts, including Gujwa-eup and Aewol-eup.

Municipal officials are planning to dispatch 350 people to promote and help residents use the new waste disposal system.

제주시는
지난 8일, 봉개동 주민대책위원회와
음식물쓰레기 반입에 합의하면서
12일부터 읍면지역도
분리배출을 시행한다고 밝혔습니다.

제주시는
27억 여 원을 투입해
구좌와 애월 등 읍면 5곳 클린하우스 530여 개소에
음식물쓰레기 전용 수거함을 설치했습니다.

초기 혼란이 우려되는 만큼
연말까지 홍보 도우미 350여 명을
현장에 배치할 계획입니다.
