5. Researchers attempt to farm Chujado’s specialty Pyropia Dentata
Seedlings tied to filaments installed in Sinyang port waters

The Jeju Marine Fisheries Research Institute is conducting an experiment to devise ways to farm Chujado’s specialty Pyropia Dentata, which is type of red algae called ‘Itbadi Dol-gim’ in Korea.

Researchers will try to artificially collect seedlings by using a trichome provided by the National Institute of Fisheries Science.

Thus, researchers have tied seedlings to monofilament lines and installed them 6 meters under water at Shinyang port in Chujado Island.

Chujado Island’s naturally grown specialty seaweed is very well known for its good taste and flavor and is priced two to three times higher than laver produced mainly along the southern coast of the Korean peninsula.

이에따라 해양수산연구원은 최근
추자 신양항 수심 6미터 부근에
종자가 부착된 부유식 김발을 설치했습니다.

한편 추자 자연산 잇바디돌김은
맛과 향이 뛰어나
남해안에서 주로 생산되는
방사무늬김에 비해
가격이 2~3배 가량 높게 형성되고 있습니다.
