1. Jeju Tourism Industry opposes e-Travel permit system
Ministry of Justice to accept various opinions before introduction

The local tourism industry is opposing the e-Travel permit system the Ministry of Justice is planning to introduce in Jeju Island.

The Jeju Tourism Organization and the Jeju Tourism Association said they visited the Ministry of Justice to officially express their opposal toward the new permit system as it will hurt the local tourism industry.

They also said countermeasures against the growing number of problems related to Jeju’s visa-free entry system such as increasing illegal immigrants and crimes committed by foreigners should not negatively affect the local tourism industry.

During the meeting, ministry officials said the ministry will gather various perspectives on the matter before introducing the system.

사전여행허가제가 도입되면
제주관광산업에
타격을 줄 것이라며
이같은 입장을 전달했다고 밝혔습니다.

불법체류자와 외국인 범죄 증가 등
무사증 제도의 폐해에 따른 대응책에 대해서는
관광 산업에 영향을 미치지 않는 방향에서
이뤄져야 한다는 입장도 전했다고 덧붙였습니다.

이 자리에서 법무부는
사전여행허가제 도입에 있어
다양한 의견을 수렴하겠다고 답변했다고 전했습니다.
