5. Roadside air pollution monitoring station in Jeju to start operation
Institute selects Nohyeong Five-way Intersection as research site

The Jeju Public Health and Environment Research Institute will operate the first roadside station that monitors air quality at the Nohyeong Five-way Intersection in Jeju City.

The station will conduct real-time monitoring and provide constant information on six air pollutants, including sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and fine dust.

Researchers explained that the institute decided to install the station at Nohyeong Five-way Intersection as it has become the place with the most heavy traffic since 2017. The areas traffic volume and congestion is expected to surge in the future after Jeju Dream Tower completes construction.

제주시 노형오거리일대에서
첫 도로변 대기오염측정소를 신설해 운영합니다.

이곳에서는 이산화황과 이산화질소, 일산화탄소, 미세먼지 등
6개의 대기오염물질을 상시 측정해
실시간으로 자료를 공개하게 됩니다.

노형오거리는
지난 2017년 기준으로 제주에서 통행량이 가장 많은 곳이며
앞으로 드림타워 건설 등으로 인해
교통량과
정체량이 급증할 것으로 예상되면서
이번에 측정소를 설치하게 됐다고 연구원은 설명하고 있습니다.
