Financial Supervisory Service to promote local awareness about voice phishing

Jeju recorded the highest number of phone scam victims per population in the nation.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service, 17 per 100,000 islanders have fallen victim to phone scamming in 2018. This is 4.4 people more than the national average of 12.6 victims. Officials reported a total of 6.9 billion won of financial losses in Jeju alone.

The Financial Supervisory Service said that it conduct a campaign to educate islanders about phone scamming due to the surging number of victims in the island.

지난해 제주에서 인구 1만명 당 발생한 보이스피싱 피해 건수는
17명으로
전국 평균 12.6명 보다 4.4명 더 많았습니다.

피해금액은 모두 69억 입니다.

금융감독원은
제주지역에서 보이스피싱 피해가 많이 발생하고 있는 만큼
이를 줄이기 위한 교육과
홍보캠페인을 다양하게 전개하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
