BOK predicts slump to continue

The local housing market and construction industry continue to slump.

According to a report by the Jeju branch of the Bank of Korea, local housing prices in October dropped by 0.5% compared to the month before.

The annual increasing rate of local housing prices was 1% in 2018. However, from this year, the prices have decreased three consecutive quarters.

Also, the report said that the area of lands that local authorities issued for construction permits decreased by 30.2% compared to the same period last year. It added that the slump will continue for the time being.

이와 함께 건축허가 면적도 지난달 30.2% 감소하면서
당분간 건설경기 침체가 계속될 것으로 한국은행은 내다봤습니다.
