1. Deadly fire sinks fishing boat off Jeju waters
Boat’s stern towed to shore, bow and missing crew members unfound

A deadly fire tore down a 29-ton fishing boat, causing it to sink in the waters off Chagui-do Island this Tuesday.

The boat’s stern has been towed today and will be transported to Hwasun Port in Jeollanam-do Province as early as tomorrow morning. Five government agencies including the National Coast Guard, the National Forensic Service and the Maritime Affairs and Safety Policy Bureau will together investigate the salvaged parts.

Local officials had deployed a 80-ton tugboat and a 900-ton barge ship yesterday to continue salvaging remains of the boat and searching for the missing crew members.

However, the boat’s bow and missing crew members remain unfound over four days.

기상악화를 이유로
두 차례 중단됐던 대성호 선미 인양작업이
오늘 오전 완료됐습니다.

어제는 80톤 급 예인선과 900톤급 바지선을 투입해
선체가 파손되지 않는 선에서 구체적인 인양 계획을 세우고
수색 작업도 이어졌습니다.

인양된 선미는
빠르면 내일 새벽 화순항으로 들어와
해경과 국과수, 한국해양교통안전공단 등 5개 기관이 참여한 가운데
정밀 감식이 이루어질 예정입니다.

한편, 제주지방해양경찰청은
사고가 난 차귀도 서쪽 해역을 중심으로
함정 33척, 항공기 6대를 투입해 수색을 벌였지만
실종자를 발견하지 못했습니다.
